2018-19 Basketball Academy Program.

The 2018-19 4th-8th grade basketball academy has a different format than previous years.

The 3rd-5th grade academy team will be coached by Emily Rhew. The 6th-8th grade team will be coached by Merritt Rizoti.

The team will begin practice in November and run through January,

Rebecca Greenwell, former Duke Women’s Basketball Player, skill sessions from 4:30-6:00 on Wednesdays in November – January will be part of the 2018-19 academy at no extra charge. Information can be found under “R-Ball” on this website.

The team will practice once a week after the fall 2018 season has finished for an hour and fifteen minutes one evening a week (working around Coach Rizoti’s and Coach Rhew’s high school schedule).

The 4th-5th grade team will play somewhere between 3-4 tournaments during the November-January time frame.  The 6th-8th grade team will play between 4-6 tournaments during the November-January time frame. All tournaments will be local with the majority held at the Gateway YWCA.

There is a limit of twelve players for both academy teams.

COACH R WILL HOST A COED CAMP FOR 5TH-12TH GRADERS ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22ND. COST IS $15.00.  2018-19 BASKETBALL ACADEMY REGISTRANTS CAN ATTEND FOR FREE.  CAMP RUNS FROM 12:00-2:00 AT THE GATEWAY YWCA. EMAIL COACH ROBINSON IF INTERESTED.

ALSO, REMEMBER THAT ALL ACADEMY MEMBERS CAN ATTEND COACH R’S DECEMBER 21ST BASKETBALL CAMP (GIRLS ONLY, 4TH-8TH GRADERS) FOR FREE. CAMP IS AT BISHOP McGUINNESS CATHOLIC HS. EMAIL COACH ROBINSON TO SIGN-UP.

4th-5th Grade Registrations (6 spots left) – cost is $150.00 for non-fall 2018 / non-spring 2019 participants;  cost is $125.00 for fall 2018 / spring 2019 participants.

The 4th-5th grade team will play at halftime of the Wake Forest women’s basketball game on January 6th.   The 6th-8th grade team will play at halftime of the Wake Forest women’s basketball game on February 7th.
There is also the possibility that both teams will play at halftime of a Greensboro Swarm G-League game in January (possibly the 10th). More information posted soon.
