292 Basketball – PLUS

292 PLUS

292 PLUS is to help parents navigate the ever-changing world of college recruiting.

Our program has had the 292 Program since 2002-03. You can learn about the program HERE.

The most important parts of the 292 Program:

  1. Alert college coaches to where our teams are playing during NCAA open evaluation windows.
  2. Meet with parents and players between August – October to develop a plan to discuss college recruitment.
  3. Arrange college visits (attend games).

The most important parts of the Teach The Game Program:

(Click HERE to learn about the Teach The Game Program.)

  1. Group skills.,
  2. Online profile for college coaches to view (password secured).
  3. Evaluation / Feedback from group skills to gauge improvement

So what is the 292 PLUS program?

The college recruiting world is not what it was just a few years ago.

  1. There is the transfer portal.
  2. There is NIL (Name, Image and Likeness)
  3. There are new rules in regards to JUCO players.

And much, much more.

The original 292 Program was designed in 2002-03 to help Chante’ Black and her mom organize her college recruitment.  Chante’ was one of the top recruits in the country and her mom was having a hard time, as a single mom, navigating college visits, home visits, mail, phone calls, etc…

After scheduling several home visits with most of the top college coaches in the country and touring several campuses, Chante’ decided to attend Duke. Chante’ went onto have a stellar career for the Blue Devils and then was drafted 10th by the Connecticut Sun in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

Following the experience with Chante’, the 292 program was able to do the same for a number of our other players (Below are Class of 2007 Brittany Strachan’s home visit with N.C. State and Class of 2007 LaShaunda Pratt with Boston College).

In all, over 190 girls have graduated from our program to play ball in college.

Then in 2021, Adelaide Jernigan began her college recruiting journey.

Adelaide played her first college recruiting event in Louisville as an 8th grader and then began taking college visits, not college games, but actual visits to tour the campus and meet with the coaching staffs. That led to watching practices, building relationships, and then, of course, her overall improvement, which led to college offers.

The world of college basketball changed midway through her recruitment as the transfer portal and NIL came into play.  Also, the additional COVID year had to be factored in when colleges were recruiting players.

A normal situation in the college recruiting setting was handling coaching changes.  A number of college coaches recruited her, but by the time she was ready to decide on a final school, the coach was no longer there.

Doing the proper amount of due diligence, asking the necessary questions and taking additional visits, Adelaide decided to attend N.C. State.

This is where the 292 PLUS Program came into play. for Adelaide and where the 292 PLUS Program can potentially help your daughter.

Some questions that you may have?

What will the 292 PLUS Program do for my daughter?

  • Weekly updates from college coaches and college programs with information on what is taking place which will affect your daughter.
  • USA Basketball Trials Updates and Gold Camp Updates.
  • Workout plans that come directly from colleges that your daughter can mirror to help her grow as a player.
  • NIL Updates.
  • Transfer Portal Updates.
  • NCAA Rule Changes.
  • One FREE Ganon Baker Camp When He Visits The Maddawg Center (for example, when Ganon holds his camps at our facility, he offers 4-5 different types of workouts. Your daughter can attend one of those workouts for free.)

What if my daughter is not a DI Level Player?

  • The 292 PLUS Program is for players at all levels.  What happens at the DI Level, especially with the transfer portal, trickles down to the DII and DIII levels.
  • As of April 2025, of the 197 players that have graduated from our program and gone onto play in college, the breakdown is 66 DI, 38 DII, and 87 DIII, 3 NAIA, 3 JUCO.

What if my daughter is not on a W-S Stealers National Team?

  • The note above breaking down DI, DII and DIII players is part of the story.   Since we started regional and national teams, 36 players from our regional teams have received college scholarships.

What is the youngest a player can enroll in the 292 PLUS Program?

  • 6th grade is the youngest.
  • We have had three 7th graders receive college scholarship offers in the past.

Are you guaranteeing a scholarship for my daughter?

  • NO.
  • I do not work for the college program. The college coaching staffs make those decisions.
  • Where our program has an advantage is an almost thirty-year relationship working with college coaches at all levels.

Can you let me know if my daughter is college material or not?

  • That is determined by two people: 1) Your daughter and her willingness to improve, adjust and adapt to how the game is played and 2) The college coaching staff.
  • Our program just offers on the court and off the court opportunities for your daughter to improve her game and receive college exposure.

How many visits can my daughter take?

  • That will be discussed if and when she joins the 292 PLUS program.

How early can she take unofficial visits?

  • 6th Grade.
  • However, and as stressed in the Teach The Game program, the player really needs to focus on daily improvement and the college interest will begin to take care of itself.

What if my daughter gets the opportunity to play in college, but then decides to transfer to another program, do I, as a parent, need to pay an additional fee?

  • No.
  • Once she graduates from the 292 PLUS program, she can access its’ services throughout her college career for free.

Transferring from schools is more of a reality than ever.

What if my daughter wants to play professional basketball following college, does that require an additional fee?

  • No.
  • Once she graduates from the 292 PLUS program, she can access its’ services throughout her college career for free.

Class of 2016 Lauren LaPlant played overseas following her career at Western Carolina.

What are the costs?

  • If your daughter is enrolled in at least two of the three programs:  Teach The Game, Stealers For Life or the TTG App / Video Programs, the cost is $25.00 / month or $260.00 for the year.
  • If your daughter is enrolled in at least one of the three programs: Teach The Game, Stealers For Life or the TTG App / Video Programs, the cost is $30.00 / month or $310.00 for the year.
